New Style of Zerostyle Product to Go on Sale in Japan

Japan Tobacco Inc. said today that it would be launching in early December Zerostyle Bitter Leaf, an addition to its Zerostyle smokeless tobacco product. The new version, along with refill cartridges, will be made available in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, and selected retail stores nationwide. The first Zerostyle product, Zerostyle Mint, which went on sale in Tokyo in May last year, was so well-received that JT was unable to keep up with demand for a while and had to increase its capacity. In a press note announcing the new version, JT said that since the launch of Zerostyle Mint it had received requests from a number of consumers asking for a product with the flavor and aroma of a regular product. 'Using unique production techniques that bring out the flavor and aroma of original tobacco by taking select tobacco leaves, powdering them, and then shaping the powder into granules, JT has produced a smokeless, clean-tasting yet mildly bitter tobacco,' the press note said. 'For the package, we chose a stylish avant-garde black design.' Although Zerostyle is referred to as a 'new style snuff tobacco product', it is a cigarette-shaped product containing a replaceable cartridge with tobacco and flavors. It has a tapered mouthpiece and removable cap. It is not lit, which, JT says, allows consumers to use it in 'a variety of locations', presumably including some locations where smoking is banned. Cartridges are said to last from half a day to one day. Enditem
