China: Cigarette Making Enterprise Completes Project of Relocation, Technological Transformation

Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. - a cigarette making enterprise jointly incorporated by Hebei Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in north China's Hebei Province and Changsha Cigarette Factory in south central China's Hunan Province - has recently completed its project of relocation and technological transformation. On October 13, Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. held a grand ceremony in Hebei's provincial capital city of Shijiazhuang to mark the completion of the project of relocation and technological transformation. At the ceremony, a panel of experts and officials designated to inspect and technically accept the project issued a certificate of approval of the project. In December 2005, a foundation laying ceremony was held to kick off the project of relocation and technological transformation of Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. After busy work over a period of three years, the construction work of the project was basically completed, and the relocated Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. went into trial production in December 2008. The panel of experts and officials was divided into two groups in hearing reports, reviewing the application documentation and conducting on-site verification and inspection. After completing the process of inspection and verification, the panel of experts unanimously agreed to technically accept the project of relocation and technological transformation of Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. In an address delivered at the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Liu Mingxuan of Shijiazhuang City said that the Shijiazhuang City government will continue to support the localized development of Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. as it has always been doing. Meanwhile, Liu expressed the hope that Hebei Baisha Tobacco Co., Ltd. will take the completion of the project of relocation and technological transformation as a chance for further business development by seizing all opportunities of development, striving to reach higher levels and creating new successes, in making new contribution to local socioeconomic development.
