BAT Completes Protabaco Acquisition

British American Tobacco said yesterday it had completed its acquisition of Productora Tabacalera de Colombia, S.A.S. (Protabaco), the second largest cigarette company in Colombia with domestic-market sales last year of 5.5 billion. The US$452 million acquisition was said to represent a multiple of 11.3 times Protabaco's US$40 million 2010 domestic-market EBITDA on net domestic-market revenues of US$110 million. The completion of the transaction follows earlier approval by Colombia's competition authority, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, on August 2. Enditem
