Swedish Match is launching what it says is the first snus to be manufactured from tobacco grown according to ecological methods.
Green Harvest, a General-brand variant, is said to contain tobacco sourced entirely from certified farmers and grown according to ecological principles on plantations in the US, Brazil and Argentina.

No artificial fertilizers or pesticides are used on these plantations where, instead, growers regularly rotate their crops and use natural supplements to enrich their soils.
"It is incredibly gratifying to finally be able to launch a snus made from ecologically grown tobacco," said Johanna Nathhorst, product manager for General.
"Jointly with our suppliers, we worked hard to make this possible and we are very proud to be able to present a General that is very timely."
General Green Harvest, which is said to have a similar taste to that of traditional General snus, will be produced in a limited edition and will be made available at selected outlets. Enditem
