Shanghai Tobacco Group Starts Preparation for Establishing Innovation Park

Shanghai Tobacco Group held a ceremony on July 19 to start preparation for executing its project of establishing a scientific-technological innovation park in Pudong District of Shanghai City, in efforts to strengthen the material basis for turning its Chunghwa cigarette brand in to a century-old time-honored big competitive cigarette brand. The site of the scientific-technological innovation park has been chosen at Kangqiao Bridge Industrial Zone in Pudong District. At the end of 2010, Shanghai Tobacco Group went through the formalities for official approval and registration of land acquisition for the project, and completed the signing of agreements on initial-stage development of the project. Presently, Shanghai Tobacco Group is busy getting official confirmation of the permit for land use for the project, and readjusting development plans, etc. Meanwhile, it is going through the formalities for official review and approval of the designing of the development plans and the project. Director Shi Chao of Shanghai City Tobacco Monopoly Administration said that the project of Shanghai Tobacco Group to establish the scientific-technological innovation park in Pudong District is a strategic project for long-term sustainable development intended to strengthen the material basis for turning its Chunghwa cigarette brand in to a century-old time-honored big competitive cigarette brand.
