China: CHUANYU TIC. Generates More Taxes, Profits in January-June

China Tobacco chuanyu Industrial Corporation（CHUANYU TIC. ） - the operator of the tobacco industry in southwest China's Sichuan Province and neighboring Chongqing City - generated 22.57 billion yuan (3.47 billion U.S. dollars) in manufacturing and commercial taxes and profits in the first half of 2001, significantly higher year-on-year. From January to June, the manufacturing sector of CHUANYU TIC. generated 12.93 billion yuan (1.99 billion U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits, up 24.5 percent year-on-year; the commercial sector of the regional corporation in Sichuan Province generated 7.12 billion yuan (1.1 billion U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits, up 17.5 percent year-on-year; and the commercial sector of the regional corporation in Chongqing City generated 2.55 billion yuan (380 million U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits, up 26.6 percent year-on-year. Official data indicate that in 2011, both the manufacturing and commercial sectors of CHUANYU TIC. continued to maintain coordinated development of both leaf tobacco and cigarette production, registering relatively sharp growth in the production of key brands, with the economic efficiency in a favorable trend of steady increase.
