New Chief for Imperial Tobacco Canada

Marie Polet, group head of Strategy & Planning at British American Tobacco, has been appointed president and CEO of Imperial Tobacco Canada, effective October 1. Polet will replace Ian Muir, the current president and CEO, who has decided to take early retirement. Prior to her current role, Polet, who has been with the BAT group for 30 years, held a variety of senior management positions, including general manager for the company's operations in Belgium and, most recently, for those in Denmark. "Ian has contributed greatly to BAT in various senior management positions, most recently in Western Europe and presently in Canada where he has overseen Imperial Tobacco Canada's continued leadership in the tobacco industry and ongoing advocacy efforts to reduce illegal tobacco sales," said Tom Gillespie, Imperial's chairman of the board. "We would like to thank Ian for his achievements and contributions to the business. "Our best wishes go to him and his family for a long and healthy retirement." Enditem
