TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Japan Tobacco Inc. (2914.TO) said Thursday that its net profit for the fiscal first quarter ended June grew 2.4% on year, despite the disruption of some tobacco sales after the March 11 natural disasters.
The world's third-largest tobacco company by sales volume after Philip Morris International Inc. (PM) and British American Tobacco PLC (BLC), posted a net profit of Y22.7 billion in the April-June quarter, compared with a year-earlier profit of Y22.1 billion.

The company, commonly known as JT, posted revenue of Y588.2 billion for the quarter, showing a 0.1% decline from Y588.5 billion a year earlier.
Group operating profit declined 9.5% to Y71.98 billion from Y79.55 billion.
JT didn't previously issue an earnings outlook for the full business year ending March 2012, citing its inability to gauge the post-quake business situation.
But JT said it now estimates a 10.8% rise in net profit to Y161.00 billion, with a 0.8% rise in operating profit to Y336.00 billion and a 0.5% rise in revenue to Y2.446 trillion.
The earnings are based on Japanese accounting methods. Enditem
