SM's Scandinavian And US Snuff Sales Up Slightly Source from: Tobacco Reporter 05/05/2011 Swedish Match's comparable sales during the first quarter of this year, at SEK2,646 million, were increased by 1.4 per cent on those of the first quarter of 2010; or by about six per cent in local currencies.
Comparable operating profit was up by 11.3 per cent (about 17 per cent in local currencies) to SEK729 million.
Profit before income tax was up by 2.5 per cent to SEK665 million, while profit was up by 2.7 per cent to SEK533 million.
Earnings per share were up by 10.6 per cent to SEK2.50.
The value of Scandinavian snus sales was up by six per cent on volumes that were said to be up marginally, while the value of US snuff sales in US$ was up by three per cent on slightly higher volumes.
The value of US chewing tobacco sales in US$ was down by one per cent, though improved pricing helped to offset volume declines.
The value of US mass market cigar sales in US$ was up by 22 per cent in local currency on volumes up 46 per cent, led by growth in the small cigar sector. Enditem
