Bulgarian Manufacturer Eyes Bulgartabac

The Bulgarian cigarette manufacturer, King's Tobacco, has confirmed its interest in the privatization of the country's state tobacco company, Bulgartabac Holding, according to a Novinite story. "Provided that we meet the requirements, we will join the competition," said CEO Boyko Kachulev. "The requirements are pretty high because the state wants to protect the interests of tobacco producers," he added. The King's Tobacco factory was previously part of Bulgartabac but was sold off in 2008. According to the company's own figures, its share of the Bulgarian cigarette market expanded to 15 per cent during the first three months of this year. Elsewhere, it exports its cigarettes to more than 30 countries. King's Tobacco plans to launch five new brands by the end of this year. Enditem
