Hunan Project of Relocation, Technological Transformation of Cigarette Factory Kicked Off

Siping Cigarette Factory in northeast China's Jilin Province had its 4.6-billion-yuan (708-million-U.S. dollar) project of relocation and technological transformation started at a high-profile ceremony held at the Red Mouth Economic-Technological Development Area in Siping City on April 18 by the provincial government of Jilin, with the participation of Jilin Provincial Communist Party Secretary Sun Zhengcai and Provincial Governor Wang Rulin.

Siping Cigarette Factory is a subsidiary to Hunan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in south central China's Hunan Province. Director-General Jiang Chengkang of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) said that since its merger into Hunan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in 2006, Siping Cigarette Factory has attached great importance to its management improvement, and has striven to promote a corporate culture integration, in realizing sustainable development of the enterprise. The STMA has invested a line of 857 million yuan (132 million U.S. dollars) in the project of relocation and technological transformation of Siping Cigarette Factory, intended to enlarge its annual cigarette production capacity to 300,000 cases (15 billion cigarettes). So far, the STMA has done all it can to support Siping Cigarette Factory in the execution of the project of relocation and technological transformation in terms of funding, technology, equipment, etc., in laying a solid foundation for further development of the enterprise.
