China's Regional Corporation, Altadis USA Sign Cooperation Agreements

Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation - the operator of the tobacco industry in southwest China's Sichuan Province and neighboring Chongqing City - signed in Sichuan's provincial capital city of Chengdu on April 7 two agreements with Altadis USA on bilateral cooperation in the supply of raw materials for cigar production and in technological transformation of cigar products.

Signing the agreements were Deputy General Manager Wu Gang of Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation and a vice executive chief of Altadis USA. The signing of the agreements signified the entry into substantive operation of technological cooperation between the two sides.
In January 2010, Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation and Altadis USA signed a framework agreement on bilateral technological cooperation.
In accordance with the relevant clauses of the framework agreement on technological cooperation, Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation and Altadis USA reached consensus on bilateral cooperation in the supply of raw materials for cigar production and in technological transformation of cigar products, after consultation.
The two agreements signed this time provide for a first bilateral cooperation period of five years, in which the two sides will develop in-depth cooperation in quality control, collection of technologies, human resources training, raw materials acquisition, etc, will jointly establish international high-quality raw materials production bases for producing high-grade cigars, and will jointly transform the Great Wall brand cigar products of Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation.
Present at the signing ceremony were Li Deyi, deputy chief of the Economic Operation Department of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, Wu Xian and Wang Zhijiang, deputy general managers and members of the Communist Party group at Sichuan-Chongqing Regional China Tobacco Industry Corporation, the director of Imperial Tobacco for China operation development, and Song Quan'an, chief of the office of the government leading group for the development of tobacco business in Sichuan.
