Schweitzer-Mauduit Delegation Visits HongyunHonghe

A high-level delegation from Schweitzer-Mauduit International Inc. of France, led by Executive Vice President for Reconstituted Tobacco Business Michel Fievez, visited HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on March 17, holding in-depth talks with leading officials of HongyunHonghe on bilateral business cooperation.

The Schweitzer-Mauduit delegation was accompanied by Zhao Zimin, chief of the Science-Technology Development Department of Yunnan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation, on the visit. It was reported that in efforts to further master advanced foreign technologies, promote the comprehensive application of technologies by China's tobacco industry to a higher level, and meet the growing demand of the domestic market for the supply of paper-process reconstituted tobacco, China National Tobacco Corporation, on the basis of repeatedly conducting theoretical proof, has decided to introduced the most advanced reconstituted tobacco production technologies and production lines from Schweitzer-Mauduit International Inc. - the world's leading cigarette paper manufacturer - and to establish a joint-venture reconstituted tobacco production enterprise in Yuxi City of Yunnan. The establishment of this enterprise is intended to satisfy the demand of tobacco-manufacturing enterprises in Yunnan and other Chinese regions for the supply of paper-process reconstituted tobacco sheets for the production of medium- and high-grade cigarette products. In the joint-venture enterprise, the Chinese shareholders will be Shuangwei Investment Co., Ltd., Yunnan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation, Hongta Group and HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group. The current visit by the Schweitzer-Mauduit delegation was intended to hold talks and discussions with the Chinese cooperation partners in the joint venture on issues of common concern, in order to promote establishment of the joint-venture enterprise. At the talks between the two sides, Zhao Zimin briefed on the progress and preparation already made in the establishment of the joint-venture enterprise in a recent period of time. Speaking at the talks, HongyunHonghe Deputy CEO Feng Bin said that HongyunHonghe and Schweitzer-Mauduit have always maintained a fine relationship of cooperation, and that HongyunHonghe attaches great importance to the development of Schweitzer-Mauduit. He congratulated Schweitzer-Mauduit for its business successes made. Feng said that HongyunHonghe will devote itself to studying the role of reconstituted tobacco sheets in lowering the content of tar and other harmful substances in cigarette products, and increasing the use-value of reconstituted tobacco sheets.
