Higby joins Microbac Laboratories

Dr. Richard Higby has joined Microbac Laboratories Inc. as managing director of the company's Wilson, North Carolina, USA, division (Southern Testing and Research Laboratory). A synthetic and physical organic chemist, Higby has worked extensively with U.S. regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Agriculture. "It is an exciting time to be joining the Microbac family with many new opportunities to expand services to the food, pharmaceutical, and tobacco industries," said Higby. Higby succeeds Dr. Kim Baughman, who served as managing director at the Wilson laboratory since 2009. Dr. Baughman will continue as Microbac's director of development. Higby was most recently the managing director for Arista Laboratories, where he provided leadership of facilities in Richmond, Virginia and Kingston upon Thames, in the United Kingdom. "We are very pleased to have someone of Dr. Higby's stature joining Microbac at this critical time," said James Nokes, Microbac's president.
