PMI Promises $1 Million for Earthquake Relief

Philip Morris International said yesterday that it plans to donate $1 million to support relief efforts currently underway in Japan following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck the country on March 11. The timing and manner in which these funds will be used will be decided in due course following a critical needs assessment now being conducted by Philip Morris Japan. "We express our deepest sympathies for the victims and communities affected by the earthquake and will ensure that this donation is used to address the most critical needs of people in the affected areas," said Philip Morris Japan president, Frederic de Wilde, in announcing the donation.
