Provincial Corporation Starts Unit Establishment of Exclusive Tobacco Production Base

Jiangsu Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation - the operator of the tobacco industry in east China's Jiangsu Province - has recently started unit establishment of an exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production base in Lanshan County of Yongzhou City in south central China's Hunan Province in 2011, after sufficient preparation. On February 26, a team of personnel with the raw materials supply department and the technology research and development center of Jiangsu Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation went to Yongzhou City to hold talks with their counterparts from Yongzhou City branch of Hunan Provincial Tobacco Company on unit establishment of an exclusive leaf tobacco production base in Lanshan County, designed to supply high-quality leaf tobacco for production of Nanjing brand cigarettes by the former. During the talks, the two sides, in light of the requirement for Nanjing brand cigarette production and the ecological condition of Lanshan County, held in-depth discussions and explorations on the adoption of technological measures for unit establishment of the exclusive base, including tobacco seedlings development, fertilizer application, leaf tobacco picking and curing, and also on joint operation of pilot projects of experimental development of production technologies. Through the talks, the two sides jointly formulated technical programs for leaf tobacco production at the exclusive base, and jointly made arrangements and planning for unit establishment of the exclusive base in 2011, signifying official start of the process of establishment of the exclusive base in Lanshan County by Jiangsu Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation.
