Cigarette Prices Are Rising

In 2012 year Russian authorities may increase the excise tax for cigarettes, according to the Russian Ministry of Finance. According to the Ministry, the average price of a pack of cigarettes could amount to 60 rubles. As it was noted, the excise tax will be increased for all tobacco products, up to the price level of European countries. In 2010 the Ministry of Finance approved the plan under which the price of tobacco products should grow 30% annually due to increase of the excise taxes. This year Russian authorities increased the specific rates of excise for filtered cigarettes by 37%. It is also expected that this measure will bring 145 billion rubles in the state budget. Enditem
