Chunghwa 5000, Gold Deer go on Duty-Free Markets in South Korea Source from: TobaccoChina Online 02/28/2011 Chunghwa 5000 and Gold Deer - new members of two competitive cigarette brands of Shanghai Tobacco Group - went on duty-free markets in South Korea in late January, after sufficient market survey and preparation, which meant the prelude to a new round of overseas market development by Shanghai Tobacco Group in the 2011-2015 five-year period.
Over recent years, economic and trade cooperation between China and South Korea has kept developing in an in-depth way, while the procedure for issuing business and tourism visas has been greatly simplified. As a result, the number of Mainland Chinese tourists to South Korea has kept growing year-on-year, and South Korea has become a major tourist destination for Mainland Chinese visitors.
In efforts to further consolidate and increase the influence of its competitive cigarette brands at the marketplace in South Korea, Shanghai Tobacco Group, on the basis of joint planning with local tobacco dealers, succeeded in having Chunghwa 5000 and Gold Deer cigarettes sold at duty-free shops in Inchon Airport in South Korea in late January.
Through display at exclusive counters and the offering of promotional gifts, and through engagement of local sales promotion executives to introduce the cigarette products and promote their sales, 38,200 Chunghwa 5000 and Gold Deer cigarettes (191 cartons) were sold in the first week after they went on the market in South Korea. Along with increasing awareness by local consumers, the sales of Chunghwa 5000 and Gold Deer in South Korea is expected to keep growing on a continued basis. Enditem
