China: Shanghai Tobacco Group Prepares to Increase Production of Low-Tar-Level Specification

Shanghai Tobacco Group in east China in actively preparing to increase the production of the 8mg specification of its leading competitive Red Double Happiness cigarette brand in terms of planning, designation of production facilities, raw material supply and preparation of equipment, in efforts to turn Red Double Happiness into the first choice of low-tar-level cigarette brands in China. Firstly, Shanghai Tobacco Group is strengthening the planning of guarantee of raw materials supply for increasing the production of hard-packaging 8mg Red Double Happiness, and is allocating extra quotas for producing soft-packaging 8mg Red Double Happiness, in striving to meet the target of doubling the annual sales volume of 8mg Red Double Happiness. Secondly, the tobacco group is taking steps to guarantee the production increase. Specifically, the technology center has been designated to take charge of the work of testing and verifying major samples of cut tobacco and cigarettes of 8mg Red Double Happiness at all production units. Meanwhile, the production management department has been designated to lead the work of preliminary preparation including materials supply, formulation of standards and human resources training. Thirdly, the tobacco group is managing to guarantee the supply of raw and auxiliary materials. To this effect, the technology center has been designated to cooperate with the procurement center in doing a good job of guaranteeing the supply of resources for producing 8mg Red Double Happiness, and actively fulfilling plans for purchasing imported wrap paper and trademark body paper for increasing the production of 8mg Red Double Happiness. And fourthly, the tobacco group is taking steps to guarantee the preparation of equipment for increasing production of 8mg Red Double Happiness. The capital construction and equipment division has been designated to cooperate with Gaoyang Company of the tobacco group in fulfilling the acquisition of extra components for the 25+59 specification soft-packaging production unit, in order to guarantee fulfillment of the plans for increasing the production of soft-packaging 8mg Red Double Happiness.
