In 2010, Yunnan was hit by the worst drought in a century, which generated serious negative impacts on both tobacco growing and trading in the province. Despite the unfavorable situation, Honghe Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. was able to fulfill its assignments of two-step test, grading and storage of nearly 900,000 dan (45,000 tons) of preliminarily cured leaf tobacco, meeting both the qualitative and quantitative targets, thanks to close cooperation between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the local tobacco industry.
The symposium was intended to group together representatives of both the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the local tobacco industry to jointly discuss future efforts for the establishment of exclusive leaf tobacco production bases, and ways of jointly promoting the work to this effect in the future.
Speaking at the meeting, General Manager Li Yungui of Honghe Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd. briefed the participants on the work of two-step test and grading of leaf tobacco so far this year, saying that the leaf tobacco trade between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the local tobacco industry was once again successful in 2010, because of the continued close cooperation between the two sides for many years.
For Honghe Leaf Tobacco Redrying Co., Ltd., it will continue to well manage its assets, do a good job of quality control, and strive to make even better contribution to promoting the close cooperation between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the local tobacco industry, as it has always done, Li said.
