STMA Delegation Inspects HongyunHonghe

A high-level delegation from the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA), led by STMA Deputy Director-General Li Keming, inspected HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on November 25, giving instructions on further strengthening of efforts to promote development of the Yunyan cigarette brand family, upgrade its status as a high-grade cigarette brand, and enable HongyunHonghe to make greater contribution to economic development of both the tobacco industry and the local region. Accompanied by Deputy Governor Cao Jianfang of Yunnan Province, Director Yu Yundong of Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, General Manager Zhu Shaoming of Yunnan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation et al, the STMA delegation heard work reports given by HongyunHonghe CEO Wu Yi. After hearing the reports, Li Keming expressed affirmation of the work of HongyunHonghe, and said that HongyunHonghe is under heavy tasks in implementing the "532" and "461" brands development strategies formulated by the STMA. (The STMA's "532" development target provides that in a period of five years or longer, efforts will be intensified to develop two well-known cigarette brands each with an annual output of 5 million cases (250 billion cigarettes), three each with an annual output of 3 million cases (150 billion cigarettes) and five each with an annual output of 2 million cases (100 billion cigarettes). And, the "461" development target of the STMA provides that by the year 2015, efforts will be intensified to develop 12 highly influential cigarette brands each capable of generating over 40 billion yuan (5.9 billion U.S. dollars) in annual sales income, including six each capable of generating over 60 billion yuan (8.8 billion U.S. dollars) in annual sales income, and one capable of generating 100 billion yuan (14.8 billion U.S. dollars) in annual sales income.) Li Keming said that the STMA and even the whole of the tobacco industry of China expect much of the Yunyan cigarette brand of HongyunHonghe, which is a representative cigarette brand of China's tobacco industry, which represents the image of competitive Chinese cigarette brands, and which is of prominent characteristics in terms of both succession and innovation. He said that the current period of time is a crucial stage for the development of the Yunyan cigarette brand, urging HongyunHonghe to further focus its energy on the development of Yunyan, strive to improve the styles and characteristics of Yunyan brand cigarettes, and greatly promote the status of Yunyan in the eyes of consumers as a high-grade cigarette brand. The STMA deputy director-general said that there has been much technological innovation in the execution of the project of relocation and technological transformation of Kunming Cigarette Factory of HongyunHonghe, which has contributed to laying a solid material foundation for upgrading cigarette products of HongyunHonghe to a higher level. He urged HongyunHonghe to further improve the plans for technological tests of new production equipment to be installed at the new Kunming Cigarette Factory, and also the plans for the relocation of Kunming Cigarette Factory, in order to ensure smooth completion the project of relocation of Kunming Cigarette Factory and smooth entry into operation of the relocated cigarette factory. Speaking on the same occasion, Cao Jianfang said that HongyunHonghe is expected to overfulfill the tasks of cigarette production and marketing as well as the generation of profits and payment of taxes on a full scale, which will greatly contribute to economic development in Yunnan, and which is delightful to all. The deputy provincial governor emphasized that as 2011 will the first year of the 2011-2015 five-year period, HongyunHonghe should make a good beginning through great efforts. As 2011 will also be the first year following completion of the project of relocation and technological transformation of Kunming Cigarette Factory, the cigarette factory is expected to create a new atmosphere and make new achievements at its new site and with brand new production equipment, he said. In response, Yao Qingyan, on behalf of all staff members and workers with HongyunHonghe, expressed gratitude to Li Keming and Cao Jianfang for their care and support of HongyunHonghe. He said that HongyunHonghe will well accomplish its tasks for 2010 and well make preparation for making a good beginning in 2011, in order not to let down the great care of and hope on HongyunHonghe by the STMA, the Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and the provincial government of Yunnan.
