Japanese Delegation Visits Beijing Cigarette Factory

A high-level delegation from Yasushi Yutaka Trading Corporation of Japan, led by President Imazeki Takashi, visited Beijing Cigarette Factory affiliated to Shanghai Tobacco Group on November 18, exchanging views with officials of the Chinese side on new product development, improvement of existing products and ways of trade promotion. During the visit, the two sides exchanged views on tactics to deal with impacts from the sharp increase of tobacco taxes in Japan on October 1, and expressed the willingness to make concerted efforts and jointly make plans for speeding up the development of new cigarette products of the Zhongnanhai (The South Central Lake) brand family for exports to Japan. The two sides also agreed to make joint efforts to gradually improve the packaging design of Zhongnanhai brand cigarette products destined for Japanese markets, in order to make them more attractive to consumers, steadily increase the sales of Zhongnanhai brand cigarettes in Japan, and minimize the impacts on cigarette sales from the tax increase in Japan. Established on April 8, 1983, Yasushi Yutaka Trading Corporation is mainly engaged in the import and sales of Chinese-made cigarettes with ingredients of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs. As an agent at the target market in Japan for Zhongnanhai, Yasushi Yutaka Trading Corporation has been in cooperation with Beijing Cigarette Factory over the past 20 years. Presently, Zhongnanhai brand cigarettes sold by Yasushi Yutaka Trading Corporation in Japan are mainly the 1mg Zhongnanhai One, 3mg Zhongnanhai Super Lights, 8mg Zhongnanhai Lights, and Zhongnanhai New Mild Box.
