PMI And Delfortgroup Sign Supply Agreement

Philip Morris International has awarded Wattenspapier with a multi-year supply agreement for fire compliant (FSC) papers. Wattenspapier is a member of the Delfortgroup. Following the example of the United States, Canada and Australia, the European Union is expected to introduce a new standard for self-extinguishing cigarettes in the fourth quarter of 2011. Wattenspapier has developed and patented its own technology to manufacture FSC cigarette papers. The new technology is called "Hybrid-FSC-Technology," because it combines conventional paper making technology with sophisticated surface refining technology. The Hybrid-FSC-Technology uses only materials that are genuine to cigarette paper. "The industry has widely accepted the new technology and appreciates a very robust process with a high-quality and extremely well performing product," says Thomas Janisch, director of Delfortgroup SBA.
