JT to Close Hofu Tobacco Sheet Factory Source from: Tobacco Reporter 10/29/2010 Japan Tobacco Inc is to cease operations at its reconstituted tobacco factory at Yamaguchi at the end of March 2012.
The Hofu Factory will be closed, but it is not known at what cost or how many jobs will go.
The closure of the factory will mean that reconstituted tobacco will no longer be produced domestically.
JT said it planned to procure its reconstituted tobacco needs from its current suppliers: a JT Group factory and third party suppliers.
The company said the closure would enable it to develop a more competitive operating structure in respect of its domestic Japanese tobacco business. Enditem
