La Aurora S.A.'s first cigar with a double binder—Guillermo León by La Aurora—is starting to ship. After a soft launch in the Miami area a few weeks ago the cigars are coming to New York next week, and company head Guillermo León is coming with them. León will be talking about the cigars in Manhattan, first at Nat Sherman on October 21, then at both Davidoff shops, De La Concha, Barclay-Rex (on 42nd Street), Cigar Inn (the Second Avenue location, home of the Cigar Aficionado lounge), and OK Cigars on October 22. That's a lot of stops in one day, so check with the respective stores to see when León will be there if you want a chance to say hello. The Guillermo León cigar is made in the Dominican Republic from a six-nation tobacco blend. The wrapper is Ecuadoran Habano, the binders are Cameroon and Dominican, and the filler blend consists of Peruvian, Dominican, Brazilian and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigars (there are four sizes) range in price from $7.50 to $9.76 per cigar. As first reported by Cigar Aficionado Online on August 6, the cigars represent two first for Aurora—the double binder and the fact that the smoke is named for León.
