Japan Tobacco to Upgrade Factories

Japan Tobacco Inc. may spend between ¥50 billion and ¥60 billion to upgrade equipment at domestic factories, spokeswoman Yuka Sugimoto said. The changes to introduce new technology for blending and processing tobacco may allow the company, the world's third-largest publicly traded cigarette maker, to produce cigarettes in smaller lots and reduce costs, she said.
