Tanzania: Tobacco Company to Send Workers for World Cup Source from: Tanzania Daily News 06/10/2010 FOUR employees of the Tanzania Tobacco Leaf company (TLTC), will join the rest of the world in celebrating the World Cup being held in Africa, thanks to the initiative of the parent company Universal Leaf Africa (ULA) that has issued four tickets.
The package includes air tickets, accommodation, local transport in South Africa as well as allowance valued at not less than USD 4000, is a gesture of appreciation to employees this time when Africa's buzz word is World Cup.
ULA Regional Director Charlie Graham presented the tickets at a ceremony held in Morogoro also attended by TLTC Managing Director Paul Crossan. Graham said the World Cup tickets were co-ordinated by the regional office based in Johannesburg in order to have Tanzania and other ULA operations in Africa, including Malawi and Mozambique represented at the event.
"The recipients who will represent others were selected randomly from the management level," he noted adding that the initiative also helps to recognize the zealous commitment and contribution of all employees of the company.
The recipients included Thadeus Lyimo, the General Manager of TLTC Western Zone, Emannuel Mhagama Financial Accountant, Jimmy Mollel, the Processing Supervisor and Richard Sinamtwa, the Group Corporate Affairs Director, who doubles as leader of delegation.
Their tickets will enable them watch two matches of Brazil and Ivory Coast as well as that of Denmark and Cameroon planned between June 17th and 21st, 2010. Speaking on behalf of others, the leader of the delegation, Sinamtwa thanked the management for enabling the firm have representation in the event.
"To be able to go to South Africa for the people's World Cup is something that is exciting, but to be able to go for the World Cup through your employer is an icing on the cake," he said. Enditem
