ITC Chairman Honored

ITC's chairman, Y.C. Deveshwar, has been presented with the Award for Global Leadership by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) of the US Chamber of Commerce. In making the award, the USIBC cited Deveshwar's exemplary commitment to empowering India's rural agricultural community as well as the measures he has overseen to conserve natural resources and protect the environment. More than 400 senior business and government leaders from the US and India attended USIBC's 35th anniversary summit, "A pivotal period in US-India relations: Tackling education, infrastructure and inclusive growth". The event was attended by S. M. Krishna, Union Minister for External Affairs, Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, and Meera Shankar, Indian Ambassador to the US. Deveshwar has spearheaded initiatives by ITC that have included the empowerment of farmers and women, large scale afforestation projects, watershed development, the education of rural children and the provision of extensive animal husbandry services. He has led the company during a period when it has become the only one of its size in the world to be carbon positive, water positive and waste recycling positive. Enditem
