JTI Malaysia Calls For Ban On Small Cigarette Packs Effective Tomorrow Source from: BERNAMA 06/01/2010 Japan Tobacco International Bhd (JTI Malaysia) has called on the government to revert to its original decision to ban cigarette packets containing less than 20 sticks.
In a statement Monday, the company said it was in full state of readiness to be in compliant with the original small pack ban effective June 1.
"JTI Malaysia is gravely disappointed by the extension of the ban as this would significantly reduce business clarity and confidence," it said.
The company said it had made significant costs and efforts to adjust its business in order to be in compliant with the original date, as repeatedly communicated by the Health Ministry.
As highlighted by the media, the government has delayed the effective date of ban to Jan 1, 2011.
JTI Malaysia said the deferment, which was communicated through the media a mere three days prior to the original deadline, was a major concern to the company. Enditem
