HongyunHonghe Honored for Poverty Alleviation Efforts

The HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - has won the title as a "Model Collective of Yunnan Province in Poverty Alleviation in Society for the Year 2009", and was recently honored by the Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and the provincial government of Yunnan. It was the third consecutive year for HongyunHonghe to win such a title. Since 2005, HongyunHonghe has extended 63.4 million yuan (9.1 million U.S. dollars) in donation to designated areas in five poverty-stricken counties in the province, which has mainly been used to promote overall village building, construction of drinking water facilities for people and livestock, construction of primary schools, establishment of scholarship foundations, teaching assistance programs, supporting industrial projects, etc. Enditem
