STMA Chief Inspects HongyunHonghe's Development of Modern Tobacco Agriculture

Director-General Jiang Chengkang of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) traveled in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province to inspect the development by the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group of a modern tobacco agriculture on April 14-18, visiting projects of construction of infrastructure facilities in tobacco fields, hearing working reports given by leaders of the provincial tobacco industry, and highly commenting on the development of a modern tobacco agriculture in the province. During the inspection, Jiang fully affirmed the work of joint development by the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the provincial tobacco industry of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases to supply raw materials for the production of designated cigarette brands, since the incorporation of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in 2008. He praised HongyunHonghe for doing a great deal of work to comprehensively promote the supply of raw materials to a higher level in accordance with the instruction of the STMA.

In 2007, the predecessors of HongyunHonghe began to deeply get involved in the development of a modern tobacco agriculture. With the development of a modern tobacco agriculture as a link, HongyunHonghe actively coordinates with the companies contracted to develop exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases and local governments, and has separately signed agreements with the local tobacco companies in such cities or prefectures as Kunming, Qujing, Honghe, Baoshan and Wenshan on joint development by the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the provincial tobacco industry of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases to supply raw materials for the production of designated cigarette brands. Annually, HongyunHonghe sends technicians to join the companies contracted to develop exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in personally going to the frontline of production, participating in the whole processes of planning for tobacco growing, building irrigation systems for tobacco fields, transplanting seedlings onto fields, field management, scientific curing and leaf tobacco purchase. Through unit construction of exclusive bases for the production of high-quality leaf tobacco, HongyunHonghe has succeeded in strengthening relations of close cooperation and partnership between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the provincial tobacco industry. On the basis of dominating the development of a favorable ecological environment, and determining varieties and production technologies, HongyunHonghe sticks to the policy of taking the needs for the development of competitive brands as a direction of future business development, which will inevitably lay a solid foundation for strengthening the basis of the work of supplying raw materials for HongyunHonghe, realizing exclusive supply of raw materials from designated bases, developing unique characteristics of leaf tobacco,　and further strengthening the capacity of HongyunHonghe to obtain the supply of high-quality of leaf tobacco, in the interest of promoting cigarette production by HongyunHonghe to a higher level.
