HongyunHonghe Extends Donation to Earthquake-Stricken Region in Northwest China

The HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - decided on April 20 to extend a donation of 3.1 million yuan (443,000 U.S. dollars) to Yushu Prefecture in northwest China's Qinghua Province that was stricken by a devastating earthquake on April 14. The 7.1-magnitude earthquake in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has left more than 2,000 people dead and caused serious material losses. Of the 3.1 million yuan (443,000 U.S. dollars) extended by HongyunHonghe, 3 million yuan (428,570) was offered by the tobacco group to the government of Yushu Prefecture while the remaining 100,000 yuan (14,430 U.S. dollars) was offered by employees with HongyunHonghe to their colleagues with the tobacco industry in the mountainous prefecture. In the capacity of the largest tobacco manufacturing enterprise in China, the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group has always pursued its core values of "putting the interests of the State above anything else, and putting the interests of consumers above anything else." Under the leadership of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, HongyunHonghe has unswervingly adhered to the policy of "fulfilling its social responsibility and creating perpetual value". Enditem
