The HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - has recently organized an activity of donation for areas hit hard by a severe drought ravaging southwest China for months, which has affected 61.3 million residents and 5 million hectares of crops in Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guangxi.

As a result of the activity, HongyunHonghe collected 1.68 million yuan (240,000 U.S. dollars) in donation extended by its staff members and workers, of which 200,000 yuan (28,580 U.S. dollars) has been offered to the worst hit areas in Malu Township in Huize County.
With a highest altitude of 2,652 meters, Malu Township lies in northeast Huize County in a border zone between Yunnan and its neighboring Guizhou Province. The drought - the worst in 100 years in many parts of Yunnan - has seriously affected the livelihood of local residents and caused severe damage to agricultural production there.
On March 18, Hongyun-Honghe's associate inspector Tang Kaixin and Huize Cigarette Factory director Luo Qiong led a delegation to personally deliver the donation to local residents in Malu Township.
A Chinese proverb goes: "When anyone is in trouble, we should give them a hand." The collection and extension of donation by HongyunHonghe means that the tobacco group offers aid to hard-hit people in the severe disaster area with concrete actions and that it fulfills its commitments to repay society.
