Nigeria: FG Tasks BATN On Job Creation Source from: Vanguard 01/28/2010 Abuja - IN a bid to fully tap the benefits of Public Private Participation, PPP, in its job creation programme, the Federal Government has charged the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation, BATN, to collaborate with the Agricultural Skills Training Centres, ASTs, of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, to create employment opportunities for the unemployed Nigerians.
The Federal Government, through the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode SAN, while receiving a delegation from BATN, in his office, Abuja, commended British American Tobacco,BAT, for empowering Nigerians in the country through creation of employment.
A statement by the Ministry's Assistant Director (Press), Mr. Olowookere Samuel, said the minister who reiterated the core mandate of his ministry as job creation, social security and productivity efficiency which could only be achieved by collaboration with other agencies, emphasized that lacked of skill acquisitions were the major challenges of youth unemployment in the country.
Kayode called on the Foundation to strive hard and implement the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed with the government, especially using their resources in agricultural development and assist in the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, which would cover the entire garment of employment challenges in Nigeria.
