PMI Under Investigation in Thailand

Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is to launch an in-depth investigation into whether Philip Morris breached the Foreign Business Act (FBA) by importing cigarettes from the Philippines, according to a story in The Nation. Announcement of the DSI probe follows an investigation by the Commerce Ministry's Business Development Department (BDD). According to The Nation's story, PM's agreement with the ministry covers the import and export of tobacco products between Thailand and the US. However, the BDD was said to have found that the company had breached its contract by acting as a distributor of Marlboro and L&M cigarettes produced in the Philippines. Enditem
