Local Cigar Company Makes Offer To Tiger Woods

A local cigar company wants to endorse Tiger Woods, even after he admitted to cheating on his wife. Orlando-based Corona Cigar Co. said it is offering the embattled golfer a $100,000 endorsement deal. That means the company is willing to have its name attached to a guy who isn't even playing golf right now, so he can clean up his act and save his family. "I don't think he was the best candidate," said Orlando resident Heather Nesbitt, who was on her way to the company Friday afternoon. She said while she agrees Woods' reputation was rock bottom at the moment, his name is money. "Morally, no -- but for business, I would go, yes," Nesbitt said. Company Founder Jeff Borysiewicz said had the sex scandal not happened, he would never have had a shot to compete with the big boys like Accenture, the first of Tiger's corporate sponsors to pull out completely because of Woods' womanizing ways. Corona Cigar's proposed endorsement, however, is just 0.3 percent of Woods' biggest endorser, Nike. Does that mean the cigar company is wasting their time? "I have no idea," Borysiewicz told News 13, "but Tiger's been in before. He's been with Charles Barkley. We know that he enjoys cigars occassionally." As for the public opinion on the proposal: "It's a bar. It's clearly not a church," said Paul Bidhendi, of Orlando. "Cigars, golf, they go together. The whole extramarital thing doesn't really play any sort of part," said Stow Donham, of Winter Park. "He's going to be like Kobe. Everyone forgot what he did," said David Guarino, of Orlando. As of Saturday, Tiger's agent, Mark Steinburg, has not responded to the offer. Enditem
