BATS Chairman Invests £200,000 Source from: SHARECAST 12/22/2009 Recently appointed British American Tobacco chairman Richard burrows has bought 10,000 shares in the cigarettes supplier. He previously held no shares in the company. His initial investment is just short of £200,000.
the shares were acquired for 1,949.35p each.
Burrows has a background in the drinks industry. He has previously been boss of Irish Distillers and Pernod Ricard. He subsequently became Governor of the Bank of Ireland.
BATS released a positive trading statement for the nine months to the end of September 2009. Revenue for the period grew strongly in constant currency terms, driven by increasing selling prices and volume growth contributed by acquisitions.
The most recent acquisition was that of Bentoel, an Indonesia tobacco supplier, in June 2009. Enditem
