On December 2, a grand ceremony was held at Yunnan Agricultural University to inaugurate the two foundations, which, HongyunHonghe says, are intended to support and promote the cause of higher education in Yunnan and the development of highly qualified human resources for the province.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Governor Cao Jianfang of Yunnan Province, Zhang Haixiang, secretary of the Communist Party Committee at Yunnan Agricultural University, Yunnan Agricultural University President Zhu Youyong, President Zhu Shaoming of HongyunHonghe, Deputy President Xu Liwei of HongyunHonghe and other dignitaries.
In an address at the ceremony, Cao Jianfang said that HongyunHonghe's generous donation to the cause of higher education in Yunnan has fully demonstrated the tobacco group's corporate culture of fulfilling its social responsibility and taking the promotion of social harmony as its own task. HongyunHonghe's enthusiasm to public interests has not only set an example of cooperation between enterprises and universities, but also means that HongyunHonghe has taken a lead among large and medium-sized enterprises in this regard.
"I would like to avail myself of this opportunity to express our cordial thanks to HongyunHonghe for its great support and assistance to the cause of education over recent years," Cao said.
Speaking on the same occasion, Zhang Haixiang said that HongyunHonghe, as a large tobacco manufacturer well known in China and abroad, has never forgotten to repay society when it keeps strengthening and enlarging its capacity. In doing so, it has made outstanding contributions to the cause of education in Yunnan, Zhang said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Xu Liwei said that through establishment of the two foundations under the auspices of Yunnan Agricultural University, HongyunHonghe wishes to show its sincere respect to teachers who are taking pains to teach students and to show its support to students who are studying hard.
