Canadian Delegation Visits HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group

A delegation from Labstat International ULC of Canada paid a visit to the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - recently, holding talks and exchanging views with the hosts on possible cooperation between the two sides. During the visit, the Canadian delegation briefed officials with the technical center of HongyunHonghe on the history, scope of business and customer distribution of Labstat International ULC, and expressed the wish to develop cooperation with HongyunHonghe. It also held a symposium on Labstat's progress in the analysis and testing of tobacco smoke, toxicological research of tobacco and tobacco products, research of metabolites in the elements of tobacco smoke, etc. Vice-President Wu Yi of HongyunHonghe held talks with the Canadian delegation, and briefed it on the scope of business, plans for the development of brands, production and marketing of HongyunHonghe. Director Long Jiang and Deputy Director Hong Shiqi of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Bureau and President Zhu Shaoming of HongyunHonghe met with the Canadian delegation, and expressed great expectation of the Chinese side to possible cooperation between the two sides. The Canadian delegation was respectively shown the laboratory of the technical center of the group, production lines at Production Department No. 4 of Kunming Cigarette Factory and the site of relocation and technical transformation of Kunming Cigarette Factory. As a most famous tobacco smoke analyzing and testing laboratory for the global tobacco industry, Labstat International ULC is an independent, privately owned, analytical laboratory dedicated to tobacco testing, research and development, and analysis for regulatory reporting and labeling for worldwide interests. It conducts in an in-depth way the work of testing in connection with the Hoffmann list universally recognized by the tobacco industry. The visit was realized through the channel for scientific-technological cooperation developed under a program known as Tour of Yunnan by Scientific-Technological Diplomats as a platform for international scientific-technological exchange and cooperation. As a result of the visit, HongyunHonghe and Labstat International ULC are expected to sign a framework agreement on cooperation, under which HongyunHonghe wishes to strengthen its own product research and development capacity and influence in the tobacco industry by means of the powerful capacity of analysis and testing of Labstat International ULC, before gradually promoting cooperation between the two sides to higher levels.
