Regional Tobacco Industry Starts Construction of Modern Industrial Park

Hubei Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in central China's Hubei Province has recently started the construction of a modern industrial park known as the Yellow Crane Tower Industrial Park, which it hopes will be the first ecological industrial park operated by the tobacco industry of China. On September 26, Secretary Luo Qingquan of the Chinese Communist Party's Hubei Provincial Committee, Director General Jiang Chengkang of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration and other senior officials jointly laid a cornerstone for the Yellow Crane Tower Industrial Park, located on the Golden-Silver Lake in the Western Lake District of Wuhan City, the provincial capital city of Hubei. According to Deputy Director Li Keming of the STMA, the Yellow Crane Tower Industrial Park will be built into a modern environment-friendly green industrial park using advanced technologies and with a scientific structure, comprising a technological research and development center, a procurement and physical distribution center, a manufacturing center, etc. The first phase construction of the industrial park will require an investment of 4.5 billion yuan (643 million U.S. dollars), for the construction of workshop buildings with an annual cigarette production capacity of 1.5 million cases (75 billion cigarettes). In particular, the joint workshop building will be constructed under the Grade Three technical standards for constructing green workshop buildings (the highest standards in China so far). The joint workshop building will make a sufficient use of solar energy, terrestrial energy and other untraditional energy, and will have a sewage treatment system for cyclic use of water. It will be a first-rate industrial park in China that will be highly efficient, energetic and resources-saving. It will also be base for extended cooperation between the manufacturer, universities and research institutes. The Yellow Crane Tower Industrial Park will be officially put into operation in 2011. After completion of its construction, the Yellow Crane Tower Industrial Park will be a cigarette-making enterprise with a largest annual cigarette production capacity, and with a largest unit construction area of the joint workshop building.
