PM Thailand Could Face Tax-Evasion Charges Source from: Tobacco Reporter 09/04/2009 Thailand's attorney-general's office will decide on Oct. 2 whether to charge Philip Morris' local affiliate over claims it evaded import taxes on its cigarettes, reports The Bangkok Post.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) this week gave the office the results of its investigation into allegations Philip Morris (Thailand) United Co. Ltd. underreported the value of its tobacco imports and underpaid import taxes between 2003 and 2007.
The DSI claims the company had evaded taxes estimated at THB68 billion.
