Research Project of HongyunHonghe Group Passes STMA Appraisal

A major scientific-technological research project of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has recently passed technical appraisal by a panel of experts organized by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) - the regulator of China's tobacco industry. The scientific-technological research project - study of the use of the system of chemical indexes to attribute the qualitative characteristics of cigarette products - was fulfilled by the technology center of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group with assistance extended by Yunnan Rising Co., Ltd. and the Dalian Chemicophysics Research Institute of China Academy of Sciences. In the appraisal conducted on July 24, Zhang Hong, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of the STMA, highly commented on the taskforce fulfilling the research project, saying that the selection of the topic for the project was forward-looking, was in conformity with the requirement for development of China's tobacco industry, and fully embodied the requirement of the STMA that "the selection of the topic for the project must be at a high level". The joining of Yunnan Rising Co., Ltd. and the Dalian Chemicophysics Research Institute of China Academy of Sciences in the fulfillment of the research project contributed to widening the platform of scientific-technological innovation with forces from both within and outside the tobacco industry, and creating favorable conditions for meeting the requirement of the STMA that "the establishment of technology centers must reach a high level", Zhang said. Successful application of achievements in the research project in quality control over online products will mean the provision of innovative and breakthrough technological support and guarantee for meeting the requirement of the STMA that "the quality of products must be promoted to a higher level", according to Zhang. In the appraisal, Vice-President Wu Yi of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group, who was in charge of fulfillment of the research project, briefed the panel of experts on fulfillment of the project. The panel of experts, after hearing reports by the taskforce fulfilling the research project, reviewed the materials submitted. On the basis of questioning, reply in argumentation and discussion, the panel of experts fully affirmed the achievements made in the research project. It considered that the achievements in the research project were at an advanced level in China, and had reached the world's advanced level in the assessment of multi-dimensional outlines of quality and characteristics of styles of cigarette products. The experts agreed that fulfillment of the research project meant a great contribution to enriching the contents of both the technology and theory for developing and producing Chinese-style cigarette products, and that the achievements made in the research project were of great value to generalization. Fulfillment of the research project has laid a corresponding technical basis for the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group to maintain its existing competitive cigarette brands and develop new cigarette products, according to the panel of experts.
