HongyunHonghe Group Meets on Instruction on Scientific Development

The HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province held a meeting of top leaders and senior executives on July 20 on the implementation of an important instruction given by Director-General Jiang Chengkang of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) on scientific development of the tobacco industry of Yunnan. The meeting also discussed implementation of the spirit of the 2009 annual national conference of the chiefs of provincial-level tobacco monopoly administrations and general managers of provincial-level tobacco companies in Beijing on July 16. Attending the meeting were President Zhu Shaoming and Vice-Presidents Wu Yi and Xu Liwei as well as section chiefs of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group. Speaking at the July 16 conference, Jiang Chengkang summed up the achievements of China's tobacco industry in the first half of 2009, analyzed major problems existing in the operation and development of the tobacco industry, and specified a package of five major tasks for promoting cigarette production for the current stage and for a future period of time. Jiang's speech centered on key aspects of development of the tobacco industry, and spelled out arrangements and plans for key parts of the work of cigarette production in the second half of the year. In accordance with the spirit of Jiang's speech at the conference, Zhu Shaoming put forward five requirements for the operation and development of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in the second half of 2009: Firstly, the entire HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group must build up confidence, unify understanding and be confident and courageous in overcoming all difficulties. Secondly, the group should manage to guarantee growth in both profits and taxes. Thirdly, efforts should be made to promote the development of brands and basic management to a higher level. Fourthly, the group should take steps to maintain the current harmonious and stable development atmosphere. And fifthly, the group should strengthen publicity and guidance in establishing a fine corporate image of itself. Enditem
