HongyunHonghe Group Extends Donation to Quake-Stricken Area Source from: HongyunHonghe Group 07/23/2009 The HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has extended a line of 2 million yuan (285,715 U.S. dollars) in aid to Yao'an County in Chuxiong Prefecture in Yunnan, which was stricken by a magnitude-6.0 earthquake on July 9, with one person killed and 325 others injured.
On July 14, a high-level delegation headed by the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group's Communist Party Committee Deputy Secretary Zhu Junying went to Yan'an to deliver the aid, intended to help the local government do a good job of providing relief to victims of the earthquake.
Speaking at the ceremony to receive the donation, Chuxiong Prefecture's Communist Party Committee Secretary Deng Xianpei said that the generous move of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group to extend the aid not only means a great support to the government's work of disaster relief in the quake-stricken area, but also, more significantly, means an encouragement to the victims of the earthquake to rebuild their homeland, which well demonstrates the group's fine image of courageously taking upon itself extra social responsibility, and of taking the extension of relief to the weak as its own duty.
Speaking on the same occasion, Zhu Junying said that the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group is an enterprise with a high sense of responsibility and full of love and care to others. Zhu said that the group will remain to be concerned about the process of disaster relief, and will actively support post-earthquake reconstruction in the disaster area, expressing the hope that under the firm leadership of the Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, and with great support extended by all walks of life in society, a beautiful homeland will be rebuilt on the ruins of the earthquake.
It was reported that the quake collapsed 18,000 homes and damaged 75,000 more in the disaster area. Enditem
