Chinese County Active in Developing Modern Tobacco Agriculture

Luoping county - a fertile tobacco-producing area in southwest China's Yunnan Province - has been active in developing a modern tobacco agriculture over recent years by boldly exploring new ways of organizing leaf tobacco production, and promoting tobacco production of scale, intensive operation, specialized service and information-based management. Over the past few years, Luoping County has been endeavoring to promote the establishment of a large tobacco-growing zone in its Luoxiong Township, and steadily promote the soil improvement of low and middle yield farmland in the county, in order to develop a demonstrative modern tobacco agriculture area in Luoping, and develop an "ecological and naturally aromatic" leaf tobacco production zone in the county with local characteristics. With a total area of over 3,000 square kilometers, Luoping County is a fertile tobacco-producing region in the East Yunnan Plateau in a zone between Yunnan Province, Guizhou Province and Guangxi Region in southwest China, close to the north tropic. With crisscross rivers and mountains in it, Luoping boasts numerous small flatland basins among mountains. The fertile land in Luoping is of a relatively high maturity and good permeability, with a relatively thick layer of cultivated soil well capable of holding water and manure. Enditem
