Engels Takes Over At Pöschl Source from: Tobacco Reporter 04/10/2009 Patrick Engels has been appointed president and CEO of the Pöschl Tobacco Group.
Engels, who is a great-grandson of the company's founder, Alois Pöschl Snr, takes over from his father, Dr. Robert Engels, who died at the beginning of this year.
He was previously executive vice president and COO.
At the same time, Gerhard Steinberger, who was previously head of domestic sales at the German arm of the group, Pöschl Tabak GmbH & Co. KG, has been appointed vice president marketing and sales, in which position he will be responsible for worldwide marketing, sales and logistics.
Pöschl, which was established in 1902 and which is still 100 per cent family owned, describes itself as Germany's leading independent producer of smoking tobacco and the world market leader in nasal snuff.
The group employs about 650 people worldwide and last year generated revenues of about E250m with sales in about 100 countries of products such as Gletscherprise and Ozona nasal snuff; Pueblo, Red Bull and Tilbury roll-your-own/make-your-own; Exclusiv and Golden Blend's pipe tobacco; and Pueblo, Pontiac and Thomas Radford Sunday's Fantasy factory-made cigarettes.
