Philippines Celebrates Tobacco Bounty

Representatives of tobacco buying companies, cigarette manufacturers and the Philippines' National Tobacco Administration recently joined House deputy speaker, Eric Singson, to celebrate the Tobacco Festival 2009, which culminated in the selection of Miss Virginia Tobacco. According to a report in the Philippine Star, Singson, who organized the event, said the festival was intended as a thanksgiving for the bounty that farmers continued to reap out of their labors in the tobacco farmlands.
