DFS Deputy Head of Procurement Visits Shanghai Tobacco Group Source from: TobaccoChina Online 03/23/2009 The deputy head of procurement of DFS Group - the world's largest duty-free retailers group - recently visited the import-export company of Shanghai Tobacco Group, and held talks with officials of Shanghai Tobacco Group on global sales of cigarettes produced in Shanghai, and also on future cooperation between the two sides.
Cigarettes produced in Shanghai have always taken the lead among all cigarette products made in China in terms of sales at the DFS' duty-free shops around the world. Chunghwa - a time-honored key cigarette brand of Shanghai Tobacco Group - ranks the second among all cigarette brands on sales at the DFS' duty-free shops, only after Marlboro.
Chunghwa 5000, which went on the DFS' duty-free shops in Singapore early this year, has been well received by consumers, with the sales volume keeping going up.
During the talks, the DFS deputy head of procurement said that because of the ongoing global financial crisis, the sales at duty-free shops around the world, particularly the sales of luxurious cigarette and liquor products, have been impacted to some extent, along with declines in the volume of passenger flow and the consumption capacity.
However, products of Shanghai Tobacco Group have performed well despite impacts of the global financial crisis. It is expected that in 2009, cigarettes produced in Shanghai will continue to enjoy certain sales growth at the DFS' deputy-free shops, according to the DFS deputy head of procurement. Enditem
