Jobs to go at Altadis in Spain

Mar 12, 2009-The Imperial Tobacco Group's Altadis unit is to cut 780 jobs in Spain, according to a Nasdaq report relayed by Tobacco China Online. In a press release, Altadis said the company would negotiate early retirement and other settlements with the employees affected by the cutbacks, which will take effect in June next year. Imperial reportedly said last year the Altadis takeover would involve about 2,440 job cuts throughout the company. Enditem
