Exclusive High-Quality Leaf Tobacco Production Base Well Develops

The high-quality leaf tobacco production base in Cangyuan County of Lincang Prefecture in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province, which is operated to produce high-quality leaf tobacco for exclusive supply to Henan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in central China's Henan Province - is developing well, with tobacco seedlings growing luxuriantly in its fields. Over the past two years, Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Company has given priority to the development of the exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production base in Cangyuan County as one of the new tobacco-growing areas in the province. The leaf tobacco produced in this base is of the characteristics and style of mild aromatic tobacco. This year, 17,000 mu (1,133 hectares) of tobacco has been grown in the exclusive base, which is expected to produce 50,000 dan (2,500 tons) of leaf tobacco in the whole of 2009. Both the local government and tobacco monopoly administrative authorities in the county attach very great importance to cooperation with Henan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in leaf tobacco production and supply. In this endeavor, Cangzbou County has established a leading group responsible for overseeing leaf tobacco production with the top leader of the county as its head, in order to secure smooth development of the exclusive base. So far, the work has been completed to prepare soil and form ridge in the exclusive base. On February 23, technicians with the Raw Materials Supply Department and the Technical Center of Henan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation, together with experts from the National Tobacco Growing Physiological and Biochemical Research Base, traveled to Cangzhou County to conduct in-depth exchange of views with local technicians on technical cooperation, technological development and human resources training for the production of high-quality leaf tobacco with distinctive characteristics.
